Heritage in the future, to me, means the stewards of today preserving a well- travelled portal that connects the future to the past, and passing on the torch to the generations to come who will keep our heritage alive.

Carol Millar sent us her response to our question, "What does heritage mean to me?"

Using the Okanagan First Nations symbol of a canoe with 3 people in it representing honouring the past, energized by the present and being inspired by the future, heritage resonates for me with this image. Heritage is about honouring, respecting and learning from the past through our built heritage and sacred sites. The present is about working collaboratively with others to energize, educate and preserve heritage in the present. The future is the vision that inspires our growth and our direction for future generations.
